Sizing Chart - Choosing The Right Baby Sleep Sack For Your Baby
Please note that there will always be variations amongst babies in regards to age, weight & length, for example a very large newborn. The following is a general guideline for babies within the 50 (average) percentile, that should help you select the correct size for your baby (please see safety information below).
While it may seem better value to buy something your baby will 'grow into', you risk buying something that is not safe. Your baby may slip down inside the neck, with a sleeping bag that is too big.
Please make sure that your baby’s legs and feet have freedom to move by choosing the correct length. The lengths of Babyinabag® baby sleeping bags (from shoulder to bottom) are:
Small - 27"
Medium - 35"
Large - 42"
Please measure your little one from head to toe and match the length of your baby with the corresponding size next to it. Please do NOT buy one size up! The bag will not fit until your little one reaches the right age. Small size bags will start to fit once your baby reaches about 3 months old. It is generally recommended to swaddle your infant for the first 2 to 3 months or when they start ro roll. Choose a sleeping bag that’s suitable for the season - for example, a low tog one for summer (0.5 or 1 Tog) and no more than a 2.5 Tog for winter.
We recommend a size small for children that measure at least 22 inches from head to toe and no more than 30 inches. Ideally you would wait until the baby is about 12 weeks old (about the time they start to roll and kick off those little blankets!).
The medium model can be worn once a baby reaches about 30 inches in length.
The large model is for toddlers that are at least 37 inches in length.
*There is a certain amount of overlap that is inherent in the sizing. The goal of a good fit in a sleep sack lies more in the chest and neckline and less in the length (all the sleep sacks are long in length and should have plenty of room for the baby to "grow into."). Choose a sleeping bag that’s suitable for the season - for example, a low tog one for summer (0.5 or 1 tog) and no more than a 2.5 tog for winter. If you buy anything higher than this, it could make your baby too hot. If your baby is sweating or her tummy feels hot to the touch, remove some of the bedding. Don't worry if her hands or feet feel cool, this is normal.
